Welcome to Teglan Fisheries, a family run fishery with something to offer everyone.

Access Statement

Teglan Fisheries is a purpose built fishery, situated within the beautiful Aeron valley, four miles inland from the quaint Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron and nine miles from the renowned University town of Lampeter.  It is just off of the A482 and is on a regular bus route that services the area.

Access

Access to Teglan is just off of the county road on the road signposted to Cilcennin and through open gates along a flat tarmac drive. There is on-site parking in lay-bys; many pegs have direct parking opposite the pegs. Teglan has on-site parking for up to two coaches.

Teglan is a proud member of the British Disabled Angling Association. For the third year in succession we are the sole holder of the Platinum Award for disabled accessible fisheries in the United Kingdom. For that reason we are used by the B.D.A.A as a flagship and role model within the world of mobility issues in angling.

The River Lake

This one and three quarter acre lake is beautifully landscaped and weed free it is surrounded by a flat and level tarmac path with twenty four stone bond fishing pegs. Each peg has a galvanised wheelchair bump stop.

The lake contains twelve thousand fish that include seven sub-species of Carp, Roach, Rudd and skimmer Bream the average weight of fish in this lake is about two pounds.

Behind the lake the river Aeron ambles past. We have fishing rights on the river as it traverses our land. The access is not suitable for wheelchair users at this time. There are three pools that, during the season, can hold sea trout (Sewin), salmon and local brown trout.

The House Lake

The lake is weed free well maintained and beautifully landscaped. This lake has a central island and is one and three quarter aces in size. The lake has a maximum depth of thirteen and a half feet with an average depth of some four foot.

Surrounded with a predominantly flat tarmac path the lake has twenty one stone bond fishing pegs. Each peg has a galvanised wheelchair bump stop.

There are seven sub-species of Carp to thirty plus pounds, green and golden Tench to four to five pound and Bream to four pounds, Roach and Rudd weighing a maximum of two pounds.

The Lodge

There is a purpose built lodge that contains a kitchen with hot and cold running water. Hot and cold beverages can be made. There is also a microwave and fridge for the use of our patrons. We have an honesty box for payment for tea, coffee and milk. In the kitchen there is a first aid box. There are two flush toilets also with hot and cold running water. Disabled hand rails are in place if required. All the facilities are totally accessible by all persons.

Equipment

Teglan is able to offer or supplement forgotten fishing equipment or bait for a small hire fee

Personnel

On site there are up to three staff, all are trained in emergency first aid and have hands on experience in assisting people with physical disabilities and have also attended disabled access and discrimination courses.

The future

Teglan has entered the third stage of its development and is at present in the process of erecting three log cabins with full disabled accessibility. Two of these cabins will be available for holiday makers wanting to visit Teglan and the surrounding area. The cabins will be self contained and centrally heated and of the high standards expected at Teglan.  They should be available for letting by the early summer of 2009.
